Research Process
Methods
Market Research:
Analyzed top fitness apps (Nike Training Club, MyFitnessPal, & ClassPass) to assess how they handle scheduling & trainer interactions.
User Interviews:
Studied apps from Mayo Clinic & Cleveland Clinic, emphasizing their focus on patient-centered UX.
Heuristic Evaluation:
Conducted a UX audit on existing scheduling apps, identifying confusing workflows & areas for improvement.
Key Insights:
-
Clients needed an easier way to compare trainers, making detailed bios a must-have feature.
-
Direct communication with trainers was a top priority, as clients wanted guidance outside of training sessions.
-
A real-time, interactive calendar was essential, since manually checking trainer availability caused frustration.
Service Blueprint

Service Blueprint
I mapped the entire scheduling experience using a service blueprint, tracking the process from first contact to booking confirmation. This revealed key friction points, especially in initial user engagement. The first interaction needed more personalization, allowing users to create profiles, browse trainers, and communicate before booking. This minimized back-and-forth communication, streamlined scheduling, and ensured users had all necessary information upfront before committing.
Design Approach
Focus
The core focus was to simplify the scheduling process, enhance trainer-client interactions, and introduce customization for a more engaging fitness experience
Ideation Phase:
-
Wireframe Testing: Conducted low-fidelity prototype tests with users to refine the calendar booking flow.
-
Card Sorting Exercise: Helped define what trainer information was most valuable to clients.
-
Feature Prioritization Matrix: Ensured that the calendar system, trainer bios, and messaging feature were top priorities.
Design Process:
-
Interactive Scheduling System: Developed a real-time booking calendar that prevents conflicts.
-
Detailed Trainer Profiles: Included certifications, specialties, & client reviews for informed decision-making.
-
In-App Messaging: Designed a chat feature to keep trainer-client communication inside the app for better engagement.
-
Personalized Profiles: Allowed clients to customize their fitness experience & track progress over time.

Visual Enhancements:
-
Minimalist UI for clarity, with a clean calendar interface for easy navigation.
-
Vibrant colors & fitness-inspired design to keep users engaged.
-

Design system
-
Refined the brand identity to align with the app’s goals—modern, approachable, and professional.
-
Curated a sophisticated neutral palette with warm, rich tones like russet, crepe, mint, maroon, olive, and gold.
-
Selected a five-color scheme to create a cohesive and inviting atmosphere for users.
-
Typography pairing:
-
Abril Fatface for bold, elegant headings.
-
Avenir Next for body text, ensuring clarity and readability.
-
-
Focused on a clear visual hierarchy to enhance navigation and engagement.
Logo Design Process:
-
Designed four logo variations based on my client’s vision and brand aesthetic.
-
Focused on a sophisticated, neutral style that aligned with the app’s identity.
